Recognizing the importance of support for service members,  military discounts. For attorneys, managing client expectations regarding investigative costs can be challenging. PeliCAN RESEARCH suggests allocating about 25% of the initial retainer for investigative purposes to mitigate any financial surprises. Flat Fee Program

PeliCAN RESEARCH provides flexible pricing structures tailored to streamline legal operations that enhances profitability of law practices. Bi-weekly, weekly, special hourly packages, clients can select a service that aligns with their case demands and budget. The inclusion of mileage and expense reimbursement ensures a comprehensive approach to cost management. Engaging in a consultation can help determine the most effective strategy to optimize efficiency and financial outcomes .

GENERAL: CLIENT understands services may include but are not limited to consultations, correspondence, meetings, telephone calls, research, document retrieval, surveillance, interviews, report writing, travel, and fees.
RATES: Investigation (DEFINV) is $125.00 p/h. Driving Rate (DRIVING) is $62.50 p/hr., plus mileage (MILEAGE) at $0.67 p/mile (IRS 2024). Consultation (CONSULT) is $250.00 for two (2) hr. Travel/mileage included for consultation w/in OC, CA. Standard travel/mileage rates apply for consultation outside OC, CA. Consultations that exceed one (1) hr. billed at standard (DEFINV) rate. Surveillance (SURVEIL) billed hourly at $200.00 per investigator, three (3) hr. min. p/day. Background reports (BCKGRNRPT) at $150.00 flat fee, does not include research time. Contact reports (CTRPT) at $85.00 flat fee, does not include research time. Reverse phone number (RVPHNSRCH) at $75.00 flat fee. Services performed on holidays (Fed./State) billed twice (2x) rates. CLIENT agrees to compensate PI#28191 for any "on call" court appearances or depositions (CRTAPPEAR), whether under order of subpoena/summons, or not, and regardless of the party requesting the appearance at the prevailing rates. If courtroom testimony / deposition is required, PI#28191 will charge $125.00 p/h plus expenses (travel, mileage, parking, tolls) w/ three (3) hr. min. charge. Work done on expedited bases, w/in twenty-four (24) hrs. of request, requires expedite fee (EXPEDITE) of $250.00. PELICAN RESEARCH is not responsible for court delays, continuances, or cancellations. Written notice of cancellation required prior to twenty-four (24) hrs. of scheduled event. 
FEES: CLIENT agrees to reimburse all fees for services. These include, but are not limited to bank fees, atty. services, court fees, research, process service, interpreters, transcription, postage, shipments, mileage, parking, toll roads, and lodging/food allowances (per diem).  A 3.40% rate and $0.25 fee per transaction is assessed to credit/debit cards and ACH electronic transfers are assessed $0.50 fee per transaction. If CLIENT's check is not honored, CLIENT will pay all bank fees incurred.
MEALS & LODGING: Per Diem rates apply if overnight travel is authorized. Meals $75.00. Lodging daily $350.00. Travel outside CA subject to estimated costs. 
INDIGENT DEFENSE: PI#28191 provides guilt and penalty investigation to any person unable to afford such representation in criminal, juvenile or certain civil proceedings, upon the request of attorney. Case law and statutory law authorize funding for indigent defendants for the ancillary costs of a criminal case. The Statutory Law is contained in two (2) sections of the Penal Code, §987.9 and §987.2. Section §987.9 is for cases where the death penalty is a possibility. §987.2 is for all other types of criminal cases. All documents, submissions, and transcripts relating to §987.9 and §987.2 requests are privileged. Refer to guilt and penalty investigation rates posted by Superior Court of CA, Counties of Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties. Rates subject to change.
BILLING TERMS: All retainer fees paid in advance. All invoices due upon receipt. Deferred payment programs, military discounts, and terms must be confirmed in writing prior to engagement.
SURVEILLANCE: Surveillance billed hourly at $200.00 per investigator, w/ three (3) hr. min. p/day.  At no time will CLIENT interact and/or contact subject being investigated. Failure to abide by these rules compromises the safety of investigators. If this occurs, PI#28191 will terminate investigation, and all retainer fees will be forfeited. 
STORAGE & COPIES: PI#28191 stores “hard copies” of files for three (3) months. After that, hard copies migrate to electronic storage and are retained for two (2) years. All requests for copies require written authorization. Hard copies $57.50 (flat fee) files up to 200 pgs., and $0.23 cents per pg. over 200. Electronic copies $57.50 (flat fee). CLIENT reimburse all costs associated w/ external hard drive.
